SUN2WATER
Project description: Water generation system operating with Smart Nano Photovoltaic technology: Sun to Water technology.
Objectives and priorities: This project aims to produce high-purity water using a system based on photovoltaic energy. Models will be developed to improve thermodynamic processes and performance according to environmental conditions. The project seeks to achieve system autonomy through sensors and monitoring and control software, as well as to implement an innovative cold energy storage solution.
Geographical or thematic scope of project implementation: The Sun To Water project is being carried out in arid regions with water scarcity, where a sustainable solution for water generation is needed.
Total EU aid allocated: €75,634.
Total investment for project implementation: €228,220.
Project duration or implementation period: 02/2024 – 02/2026
Slogan: Europe Feels.
Results section: Throughout the phases of the Sun2Water project, significant technical milestones have been achieved.
Milestone 1:
- Validation of the laboratory-scale prototype generating 2,051 liters of water per day using propane (R290) as a natural refrigerant.
- Optimization of the thermodynamic cycle under variable temperature and humidity conditions. Implementation of an efficient water treatment system with filtration and disinfection.
- Development of adaptive control and IoT technologies.
- Thermal storage through phase change.
- Optimization of the condensation process.
